LUPONIC DISTORTION VS PANDEMIC

Image
Luponic Distortion is one of the best IPAs in California with one of the greatest names, and it is brewed by Firestone Brewery. If you would like to learn more about this epic brewery and its founders, the Lion and the Bear, read my summary here.  The beer itself is rated 97/100 on Ratebeer and is a solid 6% IPA. You can find it in cans, which is perfect to take to the beach with you.  Last thing you should know about this beer: They say the taste of Luponic Distortion is the only thing that can make the great Chuck Norris cry...but too bad he's never tasted it before.
What goes well with this epic IPA? PANDEMIC!

Pandemic is probably THE most popular and hyped up cooperative games on the market.  It was a nominee for the Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) in 2009, and the Legacy version of the game was just a runner up for the Kennerspiel des Jahres (Advanced Game of the Year) this year, 2016!  Check out the photo of the amazing board above.  In Pandemic, you and your friends figh…

KING OF TOKYO vs KING OF CALIFORNIA

Image
What is better than the King of Tokyo taking on the King of California?  And by King of California, I mean Firestone Walker Brewery!

King of Tokyo (KoT) - KoT is an epic 2-6 player game where you get to play as mutant monsters, gigantic robots, and strange aliens whom are destroying Tokyo and whacking each other in order to become the one and only King of Tokyo. Every turn you roll six dice to gain points, attack opponents, heal yourself, or gain energy for which you can buy special cards. In order to win the game, you must either destroy Tokyo by accumulating 20 victory points, or be the only surviving monster left! What I love about KoT is that is very easy to learn, so it's a great gateway game for non-gamers.  Everyone can roll dice and choose what actions they pursue, yet there is enough depth here that seasoned gamers like it as well. For example, when you start playing the game, it really seems like it is survival of the fittest, and the winner will be the last person stand…

Escape the Desert with Sour Beer!

Forbidden Desert + Paradox Beer Company = That's what we're talking about today.

First, if you didn't read the last post about Modern Times Beer, do so now since they have some incredible beer events coming up! Now back to the main event...

Forbidden Desert is a fun cooperative game for 2-5 players. This is from the creator of Pandemic, so if you like challenging games where you work together as a group, this is one for you. Here's what the box says:

Gear up for a thrilling adventure to recover a legendary flying machine buried deep in the ruins of an ancient desert city. You'll need to coordinate with your teammates and use every available resource if you hope to survive the scorching heat and relentless sandstorm. Find the flying machine and escape before you all become permanent artifacts of the Forbidden Desert!

Sounds fun, right? We've played and won this game in small groups (2-3); however, last night we lost twice with our larger group of 5. If anyone runs o…

Monster's Park Escapes the Room!

Modern Times Monster's Park + Escape Room = Best Friday Ever

How is it that we continue to combine the most epic of beer and board games?
(The honest answer is having friends that are into beer and free shipping on Amazon Prime, but let's pretend that question was hypothetical).

Nevertheless, let's move forward with the most recent game night combo...
